We spent the evening last night with our friends Örlygur, Svala, and Jeremy. After a great dinner at Örlygur´s we took off for The Pearl so we could position ourselves above the city in time to take in the fireworks. We had heard about the fireworks, but little can prepare someone for experiencing the real event. The first video below is the excitement of the build-up. The explosions began several hours before midnight and continued a while after. The second video is the climax of the evening. Annie’s narration is classic “Annie” for any of you who know her well. Þetta vídeó sýnir vel hvað flugeldarnir eru ofan í manni þegar maður er í Reykjavík. Við vorum hjá pabba fyrir norðan, í sveitinni, svo það voru ekki jafn miklir flugeldar.
Margir skóta upp öllum sínum flugeldum fyrir miðnætti til að skjóta gamla árinu í burtu, þess vegna byrjar þetta svona snemma. En það er misjanft hvað fólk gerir. Við t.d. bíðum alltaf inni eftir að klukkan er tólf og skálum og förum svo út.
