The Garmans are Tired

September 30, 2011Annie

We moved. Again. I think this is the 13th house we've lived in the last three year adventure called our life, but honestly I'm losing count. Colby sat down next to me to read his kindle, but it looks like his heavy eyelids trumped his desire to read.  I have taken a nap every day for the last week and am slowly feeling less and less like I've been hit by a semi-truck. Moving is hard, but with three kids in tow, it's even harder. Add homeschooling into the mix....brutal.  We now live in Read More

Classical Conversations

August 25, 2011Annie

It was such a strange turn of events. This summer we were leaning heavily towards putting our 2 children in public school and I had applied for four different part-time ESOL jobs in Prince William County. I'm not really sure what happened.  I guess it all started when we realized buying a house and getting settled in Dumfries (where my husband is now a pastor) by the first day of school was nearly impossible.  Most of the homes that are available are short-sales or foreclosures that could take Read More

Garman News Flash

July 24, 2011Annie

If you live in Northern Virginia and converse with us regularly, you already know... But for everyone else: my husband just got a full-time job!  After returning to the States from Iceland (because of Gracie's condition) we didn't know what God had for us on this side of the ocean.  We had been back in America for thirteen months, searching, waiting, wondering, praying, and still...only a part-time job.  Last month the elders at Pillar Church offered my husband a full-time job as the teaching Read More

“Kid-Speak”

July 14, 2011Annie

For the next couple of months, I'll be adding to the tab "Darndest Things"  where I record all the cute things my kids have said and done.  Hopefully they'll add a smile to your day.  If you have subscribed using an RSS feed, they should show up just like Gracie's Story did. Speaking of Gracie's Story....part 1 is now complete.  I will be taking a break from posting this story for awhile as I get feedback from others (Yes, this means you!  Feel free to give any advice or suggestions), try to Read More

A Week In Wisconsin

July 10, 2011Annie

All growing up, I lived in the same house that I came home from the hospital in back in 1980.  When my parents became empty nesters and decided to move out to the country, I felt a little put off.  How could they do this to me?  My one source of stability in this ever changing world was to always COME HOME to 1608 Prospect Street where we had lived my entire life. Of course it's amazing out here.  It Read More
