The Garmans Have Arrived

February 7, 2009Colby

This is Clint Clifton writing for the Garmans: I got a call from Colby on Saturday about 3:45pm. They have arrived safely and are in the apartment. All is well. The travel was mostly smooth and they are settling in. Colby said that they would not have Internet for a few more days so updates may not be frequent during the first week. Colby said they could see Hallgrímskirkja out of the window and it was a beautiful sight. Read More

We’re packing…

January 28, 2009Colby

Hey guys, we are heading to Iceland (probably on February 6th). We have not been granted a long term visa yet, but have permission to come on our passports in the intervening time. We are grateful to God for His providence in our lives that has led us to this point and trust in his provision for his future work. We have a lot to do between now and next Friday and would appreciate your continued prayers. Many of you have prayed faithfully for us during this long process and we give thanks for your Read More

Request

January 27, 2009Colby

I want to ask you to set aside some time to pray for our visa situation today. Most importantly pray for a positive decision on our visa appeal and that we will hear of a decision in the next few days. If you can, gather some other believers or your family together to pray for this request. Read More

“As an atheist, I truly believe Africa needs God.”

December 31, 2008Colby

This article I found over at Between Two Worlds, comes from London's Times Online. Here is a snippet:"Now a confirmed atheist, I've become convinced of the enormous contribution that Christian evangelism makes in Africa: sharply distinct from the work of secular NGOs, government projects and international aid efforts. These alone will not do. Education and training alone will not do. In Africa Christianity changes people's hearts. It brings a spiritual transformation. The rebirth is real. The Read More

My daughter the Theologian

December 24, 2008Colby

This morning Haley and Darcy were writing a little note to stick in their stockings about what they wanted to give to God for Christmas this year (Annie's idea). Darcy said she wanted to give Him a Bible. Haley's note was a bit more insightful. "I want to give you my love, ...which means that I need to obey you," was Haley's response; a simple rehearsal of the words of Jesus, "If you love me, keep my commandments." I do not know that she had Jesus' words in mind when she made the declaration; it Read More

Icelandic Cultural Tidbit

December 4, 2008Colby

I found this article and the accompanying video about paganism in Iceland interesting. Here is a quote:Members of Ásatrúarfélagid, a religious association which honors the old Norse gods, celebrated Iceland’s Sovereignty Day on Monday by honoring the country’s protective spirits, thelandvaettir as described in Snorri Sturluson’s Heimskringla. One website says the pagan organization has 1000 members. The Time is Near!

December 4, 2008Colby

I just got off the phone with a representative at the Immigration Office. I was told that a decision letter would be sent out by the end of this week or on Monday! The representative said she could tell me nothing else, like what the decision would be, but she did know that it was happening very shortly. Please pray for the workers at immigration to have favor on us and open the way for the big move. Our friend who will receive the letter for us in Iceland should have it by early next week. I am Read More

Icelandic Protesters demand PM Resign during Violent Protests

November 25, 2008Colby

Here is a link to the article at the France 24 news website about some of the unrest in Iceland as the financial situation continues to unfold. Please continue to pray for Iceland and its people and also pray for a spiritual awakening in the hearts of those we will be going to minister to. Read More

Residence Permit Update

November 24, 2008Colby

Well today we found out where our application for our residence permit is. It has made it to the desk of the Immigration Lawyer. Now in the Garman family we like a good lawyer, and often take them to be our dearest friends, so we have much confidence that the invitation to Iceland is within our grasp. But let us not be too hasty, for it seems as though our friendly immigration lawyer is on a journey abroad until December 1st. This light and momentary affliction doth not deter our hope that we Read More
