I feel so behind on blogging. So many things happen that I don't get a chance to record, and being the perfectionist that I am, that irritates me immensely. But, I have thought of a theme that encompasses a few events, so I will go with that. In May, we had an Icelander, Siggy, visit with us during his stay in the states. Siggy is very intelligent, articulate, and asks tons of questions. I love having him around because I usually have similar questions, but I get made fun of for asking them. Read More
The Best Birthday Present
Yesterday, May 18th, was my 28th birthday and the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon in Fredericksburg. When I heard about this event last winter, I really wanted to participate, but Colby (the wise man that he is), counseled me not to. He knows that I am very competitive and intense and if I tried to train for a half-marathon, I would stress myself out. He thought that being in grad school was enough work for this spring. Maybe some day I'll learn how to cope with my perfectionism. Last Read More
Hvað heitir þu?
I realized yesterday when I was talking to my mom and she asked the big question that not everyone has heard the official news yet: Yes, we received a letter from the IMB when we arrived home from Boston and we have been approved to be missionaries to Iceland. So now it has been confirmed and we are getting serious about renting our house and applying for a VISA. Today I also made a decision to start teaching Haley and Darcy Icelandic. I have been fighting this for a long time. Instead of Read More

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood…
Today on Mr. Roger's neighborhood, Mr. Rogers went to a dairy farm to learn about milking cows. The girls were oooing and ahhing about it and the sun was starting to peek out from behind the clouds, so I came up with the grand idea of visiting the farm that is right off Bells Hill Road. We packed some snacks and hiked up the hill out our subdivision. It has always amazed me that there is an old farm right between I-95 and Route 1 and today seemed like the perfect day to have a hands-on Read More
House Church
Colby and I have a couple more stories to share from our amazing week at the interview conference. Our last night at theconference, we were instructed to gather for a church service with our small group as if we were in a closed country. The members of our group staggered in every five minutes, one at a time, to our dorm room. We gathered, with the shades drawn, on the floor of our room and began to conduct a service in a whisper. None of us had never sung in a whisper before and we couldn't Read More
Thanks a lot, Cindy!
A few weeks ago, our pastor's wife was in the nursery and showed Darcy that her hair tie could also double as a bracelet. Darcy loved the concept and now enjoys taking her hair out so that she can accessorize with a new bracelet. This results in the fro (pictured here) and a really stressful meal time (especially when she pretends to be Aerial and combs her hair with a fork). I wonder if Darcy will always be a wild woman...
