Introduction

February 2, 2012Annie

Yesterday, fourteen women met at Pillar church for the first day of Women's Bible Study.  Since you couldn't be there, I'll tell you about it. The first thing we did was introduce ourselves.  Since all of us here online will be taking this journey together, I thought it would be good for us to do that too.  Simply leave a comment introducing yourself, (maybe where you're at on the globe?), and what made you decide to take this class. HOW DO I COMMENT?  GOOD QUESTION... TO COMMENT, CLICK ON Read More

Latest Brainstorm

January 31, 2012Annie

One of my favorite past-times is ideating. Ideas only usually come to me when I am sick and in bed but not tired enough to be asleep.  I had the opportunity recently to be in this state of consciousness for a prolonged period of time and have come out the other side with a brainstorm that will hopefully not pan out to be merely a side effect from generic DayQuil. I try to study the Bible consistently.  My intentions are usually good, but with everything else that happens in life, my Bible Read More

Here We GO!

January 28, 2012Annie

The ladies of Pillar Church in Dumfries, VA are going through a study this semester called Self-Confrontation.  The beauty is you don't have to live in Northern Virginia to participate!  Women from Texas to Illinois to South Carolina to Boston are doing the study on their own and coming here to discuss what they're learning! If you are a blog reader and want to participate, you can buy the books HERE  and join us in the journey. We will begin Thursday, Feb. 2nd...right here! Read More

Scatter, Not Gather

January 16, 2012Annie

When I first met Clint Clifton and heard about his passion for church planting, I didn't get it.  "We have ENOUGH churches in America, don't you think?"  I argued.  "If you want to plant churches, why don't you go to India?" We were at Ci-Ci's with our families and I threw out my opinion like a hand-tossed pizza onto our table already stacked high with crust-filled plates. My cynicism wasn't even entertained.  "There are lots of churches here...but are they all GOOD churches?" I took a bite Read More

Hushed

December 31, 2011Annie

New Year's Eve 2011 I'm sitting alone in an empty house with a severe cold while every other person on the planet is ushering in 2012.  The neighbor's sub-woofer is shaking the house and for a moment I think it is fireworks.  I try to compete with the noise by turning up my Fernando Ortega station on Pandora, but it only adds an antagonistic bass line. It's probably a good thing that I didn't go anywhere tonight. Forced to be still.  I don't know why it's so hard to do when I always find Read More

Christmas Letter

December 26, 2011Annie

Dear Friends and Family, I decided it was time to do a year-in-review-Christmas-letter and, as to not possibily leave anyone out, post it here on the world wide internet we have all grown so much to love. Where to begin? 2011 began and we found ourselves in a land that had become strangely familiar:  LIMBO.  Colby had filled out applications, sent resumes, driven the whole family north to check out a possibility, and was now simply waiting for full-time work. We moved from free house to free Read More

One-Liners

December 23, 2011Annie

Darcy (After going on the 1st grade field trip together):  "When I grow up, I want to be a chaperone." ** Gracie (age 2):  "My nose COMING OUT!!"  (Her nose was just running) ** Gracie (twirling around with a dress-up dress on). Me:  Gracie, we're going to have some reading time now." Gracie:  "Maybe after reading time, I could marry some-fing." ** Gracie (looking alarmed at the end of her birthday party, as we deflated the swimming pool): "Why did that pool die?" ** "Mom, I think I Read More

Regurgitation, really

December 1, 2011Annie

I've really gotten out of the habit of blogging lately.  I guess whatever creative energy is left after homeschooling (and that is VERY LITTLE) has been spent on documenting "Gracie's Story."  I'm hoping sometime in the next few years to finish that project.  In the meantime, I have definitely come to admire people (like my husband) who have to WRITE sermons or articles or anything on a consistent basis.  With their income depending on it.  Writing this story is so hard.  Whenever I sit down to Read More

Hardly Functional

November 29, 2011Annie

Our family got passes to the gym this last week.  This will be a WIN, WIN, WIN for everyone as I'll be getting a break from the kids during the day, they'll be getting a break from me, and Colby and I can have exercise dates on the treadmill and then in the hot tub.  Today I decided to go to a group fitness class to break up the routine and do something other than the treadmill. The only class available at 10:30 was called FUNCTIONAL BODIES, so I decided to give it a try.  I mean, I could Read More
