Today is going to be long.
Our newsfeed will be full of hot emotions and opinions. There are many things that COULD be expressed…but what if we didn’t?
What if we–instead–directed our energy to prayer?
I posted this the morning after the election, and think it’s worth repeating:
The Bible instructs us to pray for our leaders (I Tim 2:1-4), and never before have I felt such an urgency to do so.
We need to pray for President Trump on many levels:
*Pray for him to draw near to God and for God to draw near to him (James 4:8).
*Pray for him to fear God because this is the beginning of wisdom (Psalms 111:10).
*Pray for his humility because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).
*Pray for his mind to be clear and set on things above (Romans 8:6).
*Pray for his tongue because “whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.” (Prov. 13:3).
*Pray for his anger issues (…and our own because we ALL struggle in many ways- James 3:2).
*Pray for his fears to not control him.
*Pray for his health and his protection.
*Pray for his temptations, his integrity, his wife, his marriage, and his heart to be soft to repentance.
*Pray for his emotions to be self-controlled, his thoughts to be honorable, and his faith to be sincere.
I want to confess that I’ve never prayed this specifically for my leaders, but am thankful that today I get a new start.

I agree with you in prayer, Annie. Amen.
