My First and Last Mexican Party

May 5, 2014Annie

Tonight was slightly traumatic. Here’s the story:

We went to our first “CINCO DE MAYO” party at our friend’s house.  I took the three girls for a walk and Colby had the job of watching Penelope.  While Colby wasn’t watching, Penelope ESCAPED from the house and went looking for me.  When I came home and couldn’t find her, everyone at the party started looking for her.  I ran outside and saw her at the end of the block in the middle of an intersection, standing with a little stuffed animal tucked under her arm.  The car that was coming toward her stopped, and I ran and grabbed her.

ANYWAY, as you can imagine, I was a wreck.

I cried for almost 2 hours after the event, reliving it and imaging if the worst case scenario had happened.  Colby was holding me, letting me “get it all out,” when my ten year old walked up with a straight, emotion-less face and calmly asked,“Was that the worst Cinco-De-Mayo you’ve ever had?”
