My kids really spoiled me for Mother’s Day, and it made me take a pause to remember just how much of a blessing motherhood is. Yes, it has flipped my life upside down and shaken all of the change out of my pockets, but it has all been worth it.
So very worth it.
Last weekend during “quiet reading time” at home, Darcy cautiously came to my door and softly pushed the door open. She had tears in her eyes, so I let her come in and sit on my lap. Apparently she had been looking through Haley’s Magic Tree House book, “Tonight on the Titanic” and needed me to hold her as she processed this tragic piece of history.
I rocked her back and forth as her tender little heart wept, grieving the countless lives that had been lost April 14th, 1912. I had no idea what I could do to reverse the sitution, so I just began to sing “Nearer My God to Thee,” a song that a group of Christians on the Titanic had played with their violins as the great ship went down. It was another beautiful reminder that motherhood, though utterly demanding, is truly one of the most rewarding job that exists.
