We moved.
Again.
I think this is the 13th house we’ve lived in the last three year adventure called our life, but honestly I’m losing count.
Colby sat down next to me to read his kindle, but it looks like his heavy eyelids trumped his desire to read. I have taken a nap every day for the last week and am slowly feeling less and less like I’ve been hit by a semi-truck.
Moving is hard, but with three kids in tow, it’s even harder. Add homeschooling into the mix….brutal. We now live in Triangle, VA in a town home only 4 minutes from church. It’s bigger and cheaper than the apartment we were living in in Stafford…Thank you Wire family for trusting us to be your tenants! We are still house hunting and looking for a house that we can buy since it’s a buyer’s market around here. That process, however, is proving to be slow and arduous. Arduous…I don’t think I’ve ever used that word before. I hope I’m using it in the right context.
Speaking of new words…I’m hoping that homeschooling my kids will expand my vocabulary exponentially. Today on our field trip to Rippon Lodge, while the kids were running around the yard chasing small tree frogs, I was listening to our guide explain the development of the port system in Northern Virginia during the colonial era. I don’t know how long we’ll homeschool, but for now I’m really getting into it. For the first time in my entire life, I’m fascinated by history. I even checked out a history book from the library. I know, I know….CRAZY!
Even though moving is as exhausting as having a newborn baby, we’ve really learned a lot about Virginia history as we’ve lived in so many different corners of it here. Here’s a picture from our field trip today.

So beautiful! Congrats on finding a place to call home and enlisting friends to help you get there. Your girls are getting so big, look at Gracie, wow!

I hope you are able to home school for as long as you want. Glad to hear you are settled in, and life is returning to a semblance of normal. I can’t imagine so many moves, we’ve lived in the same house for over 30 years. There’s a lot more to move “somewhere” when you stay in one place too long. 🙂

Having lived in VA for about 10 years, I can attest to how fabulous it is as well! Even though I live about 3000 miles away in beautiful Northern CA there are still days when I miss it.

I can relate to that moving fatigue. My hubby and I each grew up in families that moved around a lot. Then, we married and moved a lot, as the Lord led. We’ve lived in our current home over SIX years, a record for both of us. I’m actually considering hanging curtains in my bathroom.
Homeschooling also fueled a love for history in my heart. I learned to “catch up” on what I’d missed in school, reading junior high level books were great, a lot of facts and pictures, and I could read more faster.
You seem to be adjusting well to all the changes; all this makes you stronger and more resilient! Press on!
