If you live in Northern Virginia and converse with us regularly, you already know…
But for everyone else: my husband just got a full-time job!
After returning to the States from Iceland (because of Gracie’s condition) we didn’t know what God had for us on this side of the ocean. We had been back in America for thirteen months, searching, waiting, wondering, praying, and still…only a part-time job. Last month the elders at Pillar Church offered my husband a full-time job as the teaching pastor and he accepted.
Pillar Church is a special place to us because back in 2006 our home church, Stafford Baptist Church, planted it. Back then it was just a handful of people meeting and studying the Bible together, but has now been strengthened and grown, and is no longer in the infancy stage. It’s standing on it’s own two feet. No…not just standing, now that I think about it…but running. Flourishing. Training people. Equipping people. Then sending them out to do the same. It’s a beautiful cycle of disciples who make disciples (who make disciples…who make disciples….) and I absolutely love this church.
My CHURCH.
We have been studying the book of Acts and the early church on Sunday mornings. The boys have also been offering a Church History course that is the most academic “Sunday School” class I have ever been a part of. We are reading the book “Church History in Plain Language” by Bruce Shelley as well as supplemental original text writings. The lectures have been excellent and I take pages of notes each week. JOIN US HERE and scroll through the Archives for some really rich learning time.

Congratulations to you and Colby! (I don’t know if you remember me, I’m Suzanne McElvy’s mom).

Of course I remember you, Patti! Thanks for all your messages and comments; they’re always fun and encouraging!

We have so much in common, yet so much NOT in common. You’re a Baptist Preacher’s wife, no? I’m a Mormon. You live in Europe, I live in the U.S. You love piano music, I love piano music. You love painting with your kids, I love painting with my kids. You love power naps, I prefer to sleep in late. You love the Lord, no doubt about that, I love the Lord. You love your little girls, I love my little girls. You love photography, I love photography. I love making homemade bread. I love gardening (i’m actually kind of good at it). I love how motherhood brings us all together.Throughout all the world, there are so many mothers that just want to make the world a better place for their babies to live. Motherhood is such a glorious gift from God.

I love how motherhood brings us all together too. Thanks for the comment! I’m actually living in America now. We came home after we found out our baby had a serious heart defect!
