Yesterday, fourteen women met at Pillar church for the first day of Women’s Bible Study. Since you couldn’t be there, I’ll tell you about it.
The first thing we did was introduce ourselves. Since all of us here online will be taking this journey together, I thought it would be good for us to do that too. Simply leave a comment introducing yourself, (maybe where you’re at on the globe?), and what made you decide to take this class.
HOW DO I COMMENT? GOOD QUESTION…
TO COMMENT, CLICK ON THE DIALOGUE CLOUD UP AT THE RIGHT THAT HAS A NUMBER IN IT…do you see it? I added a picture of what you’re looking for. By the way, if you want your comments to be anonymous, you don’t have to type in your real name. Give a code name like FrazzledMommy or something even more creative. I think you have to type in your email, but not a website. (When you type in your email address, that won’t show in the comments section.)
Those of you who have your books already, we read through the OVERVIEW of the STUDENT WORKBOOK together. That is going to be the main book we’ll use for this study. We did the “Love Test” as a part of the intro, and it truly made me shift uncomfortably in my seat. After you’ve read through the OVERVIEW for yourself, feel free to comment and discuss what you learned from that activity.
Our homework this week is to simply work through LESSON ONE of the student workbook. Next week we’ll discuss it together!
CLICK HERE to listen to the OVERVIEW lesson (just type in SELF-CONFRONTATION…don’t forget that hyphen…in the search box at the bottom of Sermon Audio section).
ANY QUESTIONS?

I had to keep my spirit in check throughout this lesson, especially when the manual said we had homework to do! I had to keep reminding myself that “it’s not about me!” and that God wants me to do this study for His glory, not mine. Of course I was glad to read that the workbook says we don’t have to do the homework. As for the audio portion, what more can one say about this subject matter; after all, it isn’t Beth Moore who’s talking here!

Hello All,
I am a 26 year old mother of two (a two and a four year old girl) who has been looking for a challenging bible study-and I think I found it! 🙂 After moving several times in the last year and not being able to find a church that quite satisfied my yearning for depth in the Word, I began silently praying for a biblical study in my area or at least accesible to me that would CHANGE me. And then I read Annie’s post. And here I am.
After reading the overview I am very excited about this study. I have never been assigned homework quite to this extent for a bible study, but I was the nerd in school who liked homework and I can’t wait to use my love for learning to help me grow in Christ.
Christine Oshinski says
Hello Ladies!! My name is Christine Oshinski. I know Annie and Colby from Liberty. 🙂 I was so glad when Annie asked me to join a Bible Study online. I know that the subject of self confrontation is definitely one I need to learn and apply to my life. I also was excited to join this study because we are in the proccess of moving and would probably miss any Bible study start ups at our new church, when we find one at our new home. Right now, we are living in Delaware County, PA but, we will be moving to Bucks County next week. I was really blessed by Annie’s invitation to do this study, as I had been wanting/ needing a study and accountability in my life. Annie, thank you for following the Lord’s leading and oppening this up in an online format.
Annie says
Hey Christine! I had no idea you were in between moves! Most people would use that as an EXCUSE to not to do a Bible study, but I”m glad you see it as a need and an opportunity! Welcome to the group and best of luck settling in to Bucks County!

Okay, so who was recording me in my daily life over the last couple weeks? The Lord has without a doubt brought this study into my life to convict me of my unloving spirit. I love that this is a straight shooting study that is honest and doesn’t soften the truth that having a spirit that does NOT reflect 1Cor. 13 is not okay. It is not just a little flaw, but a major deviation from what we should be as children of a loving God.
Marie Burns Garman says
Hi, Study Group! I’m Marie Burns Garman. I know Annie & Colby because, well, we’re family. 😉 I live in Boston with the oldest of the Garman brothers, Shane, with two beautiful children.
When Annie asked if I wanted to join the Bible study, I was a bit hesitant…thinking, how in the world will I have time while taking care of 2 kids and working full time? But then I looked through the subject and realized my excuses were just the reason NOT to do the study. I feel like this subject spoke to me, and I’m praying I get out of it a better (and more faith filled) look at self, a stronger love for others without any judgement, and solid time spent with the Lord. Thank you so much Annie for inviting me to be a part of this. Sending you all love from Boston!
Kari Raack says
Hi Ladies! My name is Kari Raack. I know Annie from a few years back when we lived in VA. and I’ve kept up on her and her family through facebook 🙂
I just asked to be a part of the study-I couldn’t attend the current study that is taking place at our church and I’ve felt a little lost since I didn’t have that going on in my life at the moment. I wanted to do a personal one, but have tried that in the past and never keep up on them. Im excited to have accountability during this study. Looking forward to learning with you all!

Hi Everyone,
I’m Tracey and live in Beaver County, PA. Annie and I taught together in VA. I am married to my best friend of 10 years and have three (7, 5, and 6 months) great kids who keep life crazy. I missed our church’s Bible study due to a kindergarten bus pick up and was really excited to be invited to this one. I was a little nervous looking at the books, but think, after doing the overview, that I’ll learn a ton.
Amber says
Hi everyone! My name is Amber Siemieniec. I know Annie from the years we spent stationed at Quantico going to Stafford Baptist church. I am married to a Marine, and we have 2 sons and a daughter. Right now we live in Charleston, SC (which we ADORE!) but will be moving back to Quantico this summer. I was involved with a Bible study at our church here, but the times never quite worked out. I had actually been thinking something online would work awesome because of the flexibility, and here it is! I have also been training as a Stephen Minister and taking online classes at Liberty toward a degree in psychology, (Christian counseling) so this study seems just perfect. I have put all of that on hold for a little bit as I have been convicted that my priority is to my husband and family right now. Well, always, but I was really letting those things become my priority. I do still want to pursue them…but later. I can’t get these precious years back! In any case, this is the only study I am doing now and I am thrilled to be part o this group!

Hello Ladies,
Well it has been a few days since I originally worked on the Love Test. It is not as fresh as it was a few days ago, but I can definitely remember feeling humbled, convicted and challenged as I read it. One thing it put at the forefront of my mind is that I need to base my answers and opinions during this study and life in general more on scripture. I was challenged when reading the verses about Paul and how he described himself even after all he had done. This maturity that he had is something I could only hope to have one day.
I look forward to this study and to communicating with all of you women of God through this blog.

Annie,
Great job leading these gals. Love, Dad

Yay! The comments are working now! It was so fun to read all of them. Marie, nice touch with the picture! Aren’t you tech savvy?! I have NO IDEA how to do that kind of stuff. Ironic, huh? Anyway, I look forward to digging in with all of you this spring.
Margie Talbot says
Hi study group. I am Margie Talbot. I am from Woodbridge, Va. I attend Pillar church with Annie. Since I work during the week I am doing the study online. It is a little challenging but I am keeping up. I am a special needs pre-school teacher’s assistant and we have a full house at home which includes 2 grandchildren. I have been wanting to be more challenged and this is doing the trick. I haven’t been very disciplined in reading scripture or in my prayerlife so I am feeling convicted from the study whick is a good thing.
Maggie says
My name is Maggie and I live in Spring, TX. I am married and have two kids, almost 11 and 1. I am Annie’s cousin, and I’ve never been involoved in a Bible Study before! I am looking forward to this… I may not always keep up, but I will always catch up! 🙂

Sorry I’m so late to doing this! I have been sick, and am finally starting to feel a little better. My name is Jamie, and I live in Wisconsin currently. I know Annie from high school. Her words have been an inspiration to me and a huge help in finding my way back to my faith and to Jesus. I’m going through some tremendous personal struggles with my health and my family… I really feel like this study will help me in my struggles and make me stronger as a mother, a person, and in my faith. I live in an area that is unfamiliar to me at the moment, and have had a hard time finding a church and faith based support system that i feel like I can connect with. I am hoping to maybe find some more support and connections through this as well. Take care everyone, and good luck!
