That was the first question on my mind when I woke up this morning and saw the headlines.Fear mixed with shock.
I have never once said anything political on here, but this morning as I laid in bed listening to the world wake up, I found words I have to share.
Now what do we do?
Now we pray.
No matter what side of the camp you are on, now we pray. There is nothing else to do. Nothing else to say. Nothing else to debate.
The Bible instructs us to pray for our leaders (I Tim 2:1-4), and never before have I felt such an urgency to do so. We need to pray for Mr. Trump on many levels:
We pray for him to draw near to God and for God to draw nigh to him (James 4:8).
We pray for him to fear God because this is the beginning of wisdom (Psalms 111:10)
We pray for humility because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).
We pray for his mind to be clear and set on things above (Romans 8:6).
We pray for his tongue because “whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.” (Prov. 13:3).
We pray for his anger issues and our own because we all struggle in many ways (James 3:2)
We pray for his health, his temptations, his wife, his marriage, and his repentance.
We pray for his emotions to be self-controlled, his thoughts to be honorable, and his faith to be sincere.
So, as I sit here listening to the sounds of the morning and the calm after such a storm, I pray and I invite you to join me.
